going back to basics. Working and reminding myself what these basics are-thin darks and heavier lights. Dr. Chang says "think of spread on a bagel, if you want more you don't press on the knife too hard, if you want less apply more pressure."

Going back to basics is a good thing. That's your instinct. It probably drives your thoughts on politics too.

Thanks for the comment on my blog John. And the reminder in this painting to paint light over dark.... been forgetting that and wondering why they weren't turning out.

 I come from a background of divorce and grit. My young mother, with dreams bigger than her reality, married a much older man. He was an airline pilot in Cuba, his third marriage, and I’d be the last of his many kids. He was 64 when I was born, my mother in her early thirties. The man was tired, worn out.
